FAQ:

Italian Language Immersion Trips with Vero Viaggio

What makes Vero Viaggio’s language immersion trips unique?

Vero Viaggio specializes in authentic, small-group immersion experiences that immerse you in Italian culture and language. Our trips focus on connecting with locals, experiencing daily life in Italy, and using the Italian language in natural settings. We also offer curated activities such as cooking classes, cultural workshops, and guided explorations.

Do I need to know Italian to join?

We highly recommend that you have some foundation in the Italian language to get the most out of the week. We suggest participants have at least an A1 level on the CEFR scale, which means you should be able to understand basic phrases and engage in simple conversations. Not sure of your level? No problem! We offer a quick online quiz and a one-on-one Zoom call to assess your speaking abilities and help determine if our trips are the right fit for you.

Will I be fluent in Italian by the end of the week?

In a week’s time, no you won’t be fluent. But you will be speaking more easily and naturally with less fear of making mistakes and more motivation to keep learning and keep trying to communicate. You will have the opportunity to chat with native speakers in real life settings and you will have the benefit of hearing many different voices — all of which will help you take your Italian to the next level.

What does a typical day on a trip look like?

A day might include a morning language session with a local instructor, a leisurely lunch featuring regional cuisine, and an afternoon exploring the area with guided visits or hands-on activities. Evenings are often reserved for cultural events, dining with locals, or free time to relax.

How many people are in each group?

We keep our groups small with a maximum of 10 travelers, to ensure a personalized experience and plenty of opportunities to connect with locals and speak Italian while receiving personalized feedback and attention.

Are meals and accommodations included?

Many meals, all accommodations, local transport to activities during the week, tips for local guides, school tuition, all entrance and activity fees are included in the trip cost. Pre-trip activities (which are optional) are also included — these could include book and film lists, private Facebook group, private WhatsApp group, Zoom chats or other activities as appropriate.

What meals are provided?

Breakfast is provided daily, as well as 5-6 other meals during our week together (these could be a combination of lunches, dinners and aperitivo). We focus on regional and local specialties when choosing where to host our meals. You’ll also have opportunities to explore on your own and enjoy meals at your leisure during your free time. We will provide a list of recommended restaurants at the beginning of the week and we offer assistance in making reservations should you need it.

What types of lodging are included?

We partner with boutique hotels, private palazzo apartment accommodations, and family-run BnBs that offer an authentic and personal experience. We strive to create an atmosphere as if you are living in Italy. All of our accommodations feature air conditioning and private bathrooms. Some will include a kitchenette or full kitchen and laundry facilities. Check the trip details page for the trip you are booking for lodging specifics.

Are laundry facilities available?

Many of our accommodations offer laundry services or facilities, either on-site or nearby. We’ll provide guidance during the trip to ensure you have access to these amenities if you need them.

Are flights included in the trip cost?

Flights are not included, allowing you the flexibility to choose the departure city and schedule that works best for you. We’re happy to offer guidance on travel arrangements and recommended arrival times and transport options.

What should I pack?

Our trips are active during the day and include a lot of urban walking and some very light hiking could potentially be part of the week. We recommend comfortable shoes, layers for variable weather, and a few nice items to dress up a bit for dinner. No need to pack anything overly fancy—our style is relaxed yet polished.

Is this a good trip for solo travelers?

Absolutely! Many of our participants join solo (especially solo women travelers). Our intimate group size fosters a friendly, supportive atmosphere, and you’ll quickly feel like part of the family.

Can I customize my trip?

We offer private and customizable trips for groups of friends, families, or organizations. If you’re looking for something specific, let us know, and we’ll create an experience tailored to your interests and goals.
